In general, construction works in South Kazakhstan region are carried out on three sections of "Khorgos - Almaty - Taraz – border of Republic of Uzbekistan" A-2 road:

- km 593-632, general contractor JV "Dena Rahsaz/Sargin" (Iran/Turkey);
- km 632-674, general contractor «Sinohydro Corporation & Limited» (China);
- km 705-742, general contractor JV «Todini & Impregilo & Akkord» (Italy/Italy/Azerbaijan).

To date, earthworks and subbase construction is being carried out at sections.

Subbase construction from Sand Gravel Mix km 705-742.

Under section km 593-632 41 km of crushed stone mix base coarse, 48 km of binding and wearing coarse of asphalt concrete is laid.

Under sections km 632-674, km 705-742 42 km of base coarse from CSSM, strenghthened by cement, and 30 km of cement concrete pavement

It is planned to construct 8 interchanges, 21 bridges and overpasses, installation of 195 culverts in the region in the framework of project reconstruction.

Total 772 items of equipment are mobilized, and 1,567 people involved in the project.

"Western Europe - Western China" international transit corridor reconstruction project in South Kazakhstan region, with a total length of 236 km is being implemented from September 2013 under 4-lane carriageway of I technical category.
