Over 3,000 People Involved in Reconstruction of Karaganda-Balkhash Road

In the Karaganda oblast, the reconstruction of the 363 km Karaganda-Balkhash republican road is in progress. The project contributes to the socio-economic development of the region and provides jobs for more than 3,000 people.

Construction works are being carried out by JV KazGerStroy and CITIC Construction Co. Ltd. Reconstruction is currently underway on all sections of the road. Road workers carry out the preparation of the subgrade and the construction of the asphalt concrete pavement courses. Work is being carried out on the new lane, meanwhile the existing road is not deconstructed until the completion of work on the new lane.

The road design provides for the road to become 4 lanes Category I. The widening of the road will significantly reduce the accident rate on the road sections, as well as significantly increase the traffic capacity of the road. In addition, the project includes construction of 28 Nos. of Bridges and Overpasses, 377 Nos. of Culverts, as well as rest areas and covered bus stops near settlements.

To this day, 1,366 Nos. of Equipment are involved in the project works. It should be noted that 3,282 jobs have been created by the project since the beginning of the reconstruction. Transport traffic on the new road will be open by the end of this year.
